2023- 7th Annual Fulton Country Club vs Sandburr Run Ryder Cup
Day #1, September 28th, was held at Sandburr Run. After the first day SBR held a 3 point leader under an alternate shot format and best shot scramble.
Day #2, September 29th, at FCC was a different alternate shot format. Then 16 matches of straight up golf using a modified handicap system. It was an even split on day 2 at FCC. So SBR took the trophy back to Thomson by a score of 21 1/2 to 18 1/2.
We enjoyed a fabulous T-Bone steak dinner with all the extras supplied by FCC. Wonderful job from the ladies of the clubhouse!
We expanded to 16 members from each club. FCC participants were: Dan Parker, Carl Neumann, Tab Kraft, Dan Dopson, Joe Raaymakers, Jim Montgomery, Steve Wheat, Pete Byers, Ben Hornberg, Jim Richter, Rick Hale, Larry Witt, Brad Nolan, Tom Brown, Darryl Schmidt, & Larry Rickertsen.
FCC leads the overall series 4 to 3.
2021- 5th Annual Fulton Country Club vs Sandburr Run Ryder Cup
The 5th Annual Senoir Ryder Cup was held on Wednesday Oct. 6th at Sandburr Golf Course in Thomson. After the 1st nine holes format, SBr held a 4-2 advantage over FCC in the side by side handicap format. the 2nd nine holes was a handicap scramble with FCC coming out in front by the same score of 4-2! After day one, it was tied 6-6 and the game was on! The weather did not cooperate on day two, so the 2nd round was postponded until the spring of 2022. We will then play the final round and have the steak dinner!
FCC participants this year were: Dan Parker, Jim Irwin, Joe Raaymakers, Jim Mathiesen, Jeff Keister, John Lauritzen, Chuck Miller, Carl Newmann, Steve Wheat, Jim Richter, Pete Byers, and Larry Witt.
Thanks to SBR staff for hosting the 1st round and to the staff at FCC for working out the details to move the golf/meal to the spring.
2021 Ryder Cup Finale @ Fulton Country Club
Friday, June 3rd, FCC and SBR finished the 2nd half of the 2021 suspended Ryder Cup. It was tied 6-6 after lasts years 1st round at SBR. The 1st 9 holes on Friday was alternate shot format with FCC coming out on top 4 1/2 to 1 1/2. Leading into the final 9 holes singles matches FCC led by 10 1/2 to 7 1/2. FCC won the singles matches 7-5, so the final score was 17 1/2 to 12 1/2 in favor of FCC! We brought the "Trophy" back home. FCC leads the over all series 3-2. A fabulous steak dinner was enjoyed at FCC following the last match.
