Minutes of the Fulton Country Club Board of Directors August 26, 2008 The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Fulton Country Club was held at the Club on August 26, 2008, at 6:30 o’clock p.m. Present at the meeting were Richard Bielenberg, Arnie Housenga, Linda Gilbert, Donald Doughty, Jeff Harmon, Steve Workman, Kenneth Schrader, Mike Heusenkveld, and Gary Rolfes. The meeting was called to order by Richard Bielenberg. The first order of business was an address to the Board presented by Denny Ottens and Greg Baker. They spoke to the Board about the Ottens Open which has been held at the Club for the past three years. The money raised by the open is used for scholarships. Mr. Ottens expressed concern over our method of billing, especially cart rentals. He expressed concern that the Ottens Open committee had been billed too much for the previous year. He also expressed concern about there being no beverage cart present on the course and that we were understaffed. Mr. Ottens expressed his desire to make arrangements for his own golf carts next year and that the participants in the open would order off the menu, rather than having a prepared meal. Messrs. Ottens and Baker stated that they appreciate their relationship, express their desire to continue their relationship with the Club and stated they would like to have the open next year held on the second Saturday in August. Thereafter, Randy Eizenga then addressed the Board. Thereafter, Minutes of the previous meeting held July 29, 2008, were approved as presented. Rich Winkel of Clifton Gunderson, LLP presented the financial statement for the period ending July 31, 2008. He reported that the Club’s current assets which include cash, money market, certificate of deposit and inventories were up approximatel $53,000.00 over the same period for the previous year. The statements also reflect that the Club’s net income for seven months ended July 31, 2008, was $32,392.96 as compared to $9,126.76 for the same period last year. The financial statement was approved by the Board. Mike Heusenkveld reported for the Grounds and Greens Committee. He reported as follows: Josh is adding gravel to the cart paths; some sprinkle heads have been fixed; all the mulch has been used and more will be obtained; fairways have been mowed higher because of weather conditions; Don Bartels has captured 12 moles; greens will be aerated on September 8; fairways will be fertilized, aerated and reseeded this fall; the grass bunker on the left side of No. 1 fairway will be removed. Finally, the committee reported that it has evaluated Josh and has given him a good evaluation for his work. Steve Workman reported for the Sports Committee and reflected on the recent tournaments held at the club. Jeff Harmon reported on the Building Committee. He reported that new air conditioners were installed in the upstairs kitchen and porch and that the soffits and fascia on the gold cart shed will be completed soon. Jeff also reported that he will look at the electrical wiring in the upstairs and perhaps work on that this winter. Richard Bielenberg reported on the Pro Shop and Bar Committee and stated that Kathy received a good evaluation. There was no old business to come before the Board. In new business it was reported that two members had their electric golf carts damaged as a result of a lightening strike at the cart shed. The members submitted bills to the Club which were denied since our rental agreement provides that the Club is not responsible for damages to carts stored in the sheds. The Board then discussed the purchase of additional trees as the Club has done in the past and it was decided to again spend $1500.00 to purchase trees to be planted at the course. A proposed Bylaw Amendment was presented at the meeting and the Board directed the Bylaw Committee to prepare proposed amendments for submission to the Secretary of the Board of Directors no later than the first Monday of September. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was then adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Gary Rolfes
